UMMC Holmes County, a part of University of Mississippi Medical Center, offers inpatient and outpatient services for residents in the area, including Lexington, Durant, Tchula, Pickens, Goodman, Cruger, Sallis and West. Its goal is to provide affordable and innovative healthcare services for the region.

Conveniently located off MS Hwy. 12 in Lexington, the 25-bed critical access hospital provides care for patients with acute illnesses or conditions that require observation or hospital admission. Our specialized team collaborates to provide individualized care, including daily multidisciplinary meetings to closely monitor our patients' progress. The compassionate care team includes hospitalists, staff physicians, respiratory therapists, nurse, case managers, rehabilitation therapists, registered dietitians, pharmacists and social workers.

As the only hospital-based swing bed provider in Holmes County, our services are an important care bridge for patients who require acute skilled nursing and/or rehabilitative care before returning home. Medicare patient eligibility requirements include:*

  • Must have been hospitalized for three consecutive nights during the previous 30 days and require continued care related to that illness.
  • Must have a need for daily, skilled nursing or rehabilitative care requiring inpatient treatment.

* If the patient has HMO or commercial insurance, we will explore all benefit options for possible swing bed coverage.

Outpatient psychiatric program

Our intensive outpatient psychiatric (IOP) program assists participants with emotional needs. It provides therapeutic outpatient counseling in a comfortable home-like setting for those with mild symptoms. The program offers group and individual counseling sessions, and medication management is provided by a board-certified psychiatrist.

Our radiology department offers a variety of imaging tests and procedures Monday-Friday by technologists registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Services include:
