Cardiothoracic Surgery

Members of the University Heart cardiothoracic surgery program are among leaders in the surgical treatment of diseases, conditions and other defects of the heart, cardiovascular system, lungs and chest wall.

Their expertise makes them sought after for routine procedures as well as those that other physicians may consider too complex or uncommon, including hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, thoracic outlet syndrome and hyperhydrosis.

All diseases of the heart, lungs, esophagus and chest wall are treated with expertise. Procedures include, but are not limited to, myocardial revascularization, transmyocardial laser revascularization, heart valve repair, thoracic aortic surgery, arrhythmia surgery, complex congenital cardiac surgery, general thoracic surgery, video-assisted thorascopic surgery and endoscopy.

The surgical team also is the state's unique provider for congestive failure/heart transplant surgery and pediatric cardiac surgery.

Clinical team

The team is represented by board-certified cardiothoracic surgeons, each one with many years of experience, as well as nurse practitioners, officers, technicians and administrative assistants. Each member of the team assists patients throughout the various phases of care.
