Children's Neurosurgery

Young bodies require specialized care such as that offered through the pediatric neurosurgery program at Batson Children's Hospital, a part of Children's of Mississippi. The care team, including the only board-certified pediatric neurosurgeon in Mississippi, manages treatment for a variety of brain, spinal cord and central nervous system conditions affecting infants, children and teens.

The continuum of care for young patients includes the pediatric and neonatal intensive care units, specially equipped surgical suites with children-appropriate instruments and comprehensive clinics offering multidisciplinary and leading-edge services for spina bifida clinic, pediatric brain tumors and craniofacial anomalies.

More than 400 pediatric neurosurgeries were performed last year at Batson, including a large number of complications from premature births and hydrocephalus. Also frequently seen are patients with chronic diseases or disorders that include lifelong needs for medical care. Multidisciplinary and kid-focused care ensures that Batson Children's Hospital has all the specialists a child may need available under one roof.
