Student Nurse Assistant

Get paid experience as Student Nurse Assistant. These exciting part-time positions allow the student to assist with various direct care tasks, such as vital signs and activities of daily living. Additionally, this work experience is invaluable in strengthening yours skills in critical thinking, clinical practice and time management.

The SNA position is a wonderful way to introduce students to University of Mississippi Medical Center.

What positions are available?

SNA positions are limited and typically available in early fall or late spring. Available hours and shifts vary depending on the patient care area and hiring manager.

Our goal is to be flexible as possible with scheduling. The student will be scheduled part-time, working various hours based on the unit's needs and their schedule.

    Pay rate and interviews

    SNA's are paid $8.50 per hour. These positions are classified as part-time and do not include benefits.

    Interviews are conducted by the hiring nurse manager. You may be asked for a clinical instructor reference. You will be asked to provide an official transcript at the end of each semester employed to verify that you are continuing through the program and that you are enrolled for the upcoming semester.

    Transcripts must be received prior to an interview being scheduled. Please be on time, prepared for an interview and dressed professionally.

    SNA requirements

    Student requirements for SNA positions include:

    • Complete an employment application on line. (See application process below)
    • Be currently enrolled in an approved School of Nursing program. The student must have completed at least 1 semester of clinical courses.
    • Provide an official transcript sealed from the registrars office of their school of nursing. The transcript may be hand delivered or mailed directly to:

    The transcript must:

    • Verify completion (not enrollment) of the first clinical rotation of the nursing program.
    • Verify the student is currently enrolled in a nursing program.

    Application process

    The applicant will apply on-line (click here) to a specific requisition number associated with an area of interest.

    The applicant will be contacted within 24 hours of submission of employment application. A representative from the Office of Nurse Recruitment will contact the applicant to obtain specific interest and availability for interviews.

    Once the applicant is qualified, interviews will be scheduled based on the applicant and the nurse managers' needs and availability.
