Dr. Anderson is board certified in general surgery and fellowship trained in hepatobiliary surgery and abdominal transplantation (ASTS certification). He is a nationally recognized transplant and hepatobiliary surgeon, Dr. Anderson has been an invited speaker at regional, national, and international conferences. He has been NIH funded for his research into the effects of fatty liver disease on donorliver injury and function and has authored more than 55 peer reviewed articles and 12 book chapters. Before joining UMMC, Dr. Anderson was a faculty member at Washington University in St. Louis where he practiced liver and kidney transplantation and hepatobiliary surgery at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children’s Hospital. He completed his fellowship in abdominal transplant surgery at Washington University in St. Louis and his general surgery residency at Vanderbilt University. He is a graduate of Emory University School of Medicine and the University of Southern Mississippi.
