Anesthesiology

University of Mississippi Medical Center's board-certified anesthesiologists are physicians trained to administer and manage medication to relieve physical pain and sensation during medical procedures, surgery or as a result of a medical condition.

They also manage and treat functions, such as breathing, heart rate and blood pressure, and immediately diagnose and treat any medical problems that might arise during the surgery or recovery period. The type and dosage of anesthesia depends on the surgery and the patient’s medical condition.
