University of Mississippi Medical Center provides interpreters free for patients who do not speak English well. Our doctors have access to a Spanish interpreter and a Choctaw liaison. If you speak other languages, your doctor has access to interpreters through a language line phone service. Those interpreters, credentialed and skilled in medical terminology, speak 204 languages.
Arrangements also can be made for an interpreter for the deaf, use of a TTD or other materials for the hearing-impaired and materials in Braille for the blind.
If possible, please let the University Physicians staff know you will need an interpreter when you make your appointment.
