Since 1991, University Sports Medicine staff has provided healthcare to athletes at all levels of competition. From pro and collegiate players to weekend warriors and sports newcomers, we offer a complete range of services on and off the field.
Our program emphasizes injury prevention, state-of-the-art surgical treatments, individualized rehabilitation and education. Our team of renowned orthopaedic surgeons, medically trained sports physicians, nationally certified athletic trainers, physical therapists and other supportive faculty and staff is here to keep you in the game.
Most sports injuries are due to either trauma or overuse of muscles or joints. The majority are caused by minor trauma involving muscles, ligaments or tendons, and include contusions (bruises), sprains and strains.
And when "Friday night lights" lead to football injuries, University Sports Medicine is there to help. An after-hours clinic at University Physicians Pavilion offers quick evaluation and treatment for high school football players injured on the field. The clinic is staffed from 9 p.m.-midnight (later if needed) during high school football season.
